I use production blogs to communicate to my crew. My gaffer once walked on the set the first day of shooting and started lighting exactly to my taste. I said, "Hey, how did you know?"
"I read you blog, bro," he replied.
I forgot I had spilled my guts on the production blog.
Here's a list of production blogs from past projects that might give you some insight into my process:

FEATURE FILMS
Stokes' work includes three feature films and three shorts. Not all of this work is comedy but will give you a sense of stokes' range.
Valley of the Sun
Valley of the Sun is a comedy that is still in development (hard copy of the script is on the way). Valley of the Sun's current claim to fame is that Rob Schneider's camp has offered to option the script from us. Rather than have Rob option the script away from us, we've been in negotiation with Rob to play the lead in our production. You can read CAA's coverage here.
Tony's Money
Tony's Money is a drama. Stokes has shot the first ten pages and is currently continuing to raise financing. You can visit the blog.
Capri
Short film that Atom Films picked up for distribution and was subsequently sold to Bell South's online entertainment division. Capri is a drama with an under current of dark humor. View the Trailer : Watch it on Atom Films.
Despacio
Short film that won him award at the Academy of Art Film festival. Humorous undercurrent. These people are real and never knew Stokes was filming them.

WHY STOKES?
Here's why you should select Stokes McIntyre to direct Midgets vs Mascots:
(This is a blatant, unabashed sales pitch written in third person because I feel like a pompous ass selling myself like this but I want to direct Midgets so its well worth the self loathing).
1. Stokes' sense of humor : Dry with a splash of cynicism and a shot of humanity.
Stokes' dry slightly cynical sense of humor is perfect for Midgets & Mascots. You can see Stokes sense of humor in his work. Stokes' humor is based in reality more than being slapstick. His sense of humor is grounded in the human condition. He likes the humor found in the truth and in our everyday lives. Nobody is perfect and its these imperfections that make us human and make us laugh.
2. Stokes' is not new to feature development
Stokes has two features in development. Valley of the Sun and Tony's Money. Over the last five years Stokes has tested his story chops on these projects. Peter Quartaroli, producer of Tony's Money, hired Stokes to develop and direct his feature based on Stokes' story experience, strong vision and ability to work with actors.
3. Stokes will not pulverize your production budget
Stokes owns, operates and directs for his production company, Hotbed, LLC. Stokes knows how to push the creative without sending the budget into a tailspin. While his directing style is carefree and comes off spontaneous, its deeply rooted in rigorous planning and fiscal responsibility. Proof is in the pudding. After ten years of producing Stokes work, Hotbed is not bankrupt. In fact, since 2003 hotbed's net worth has grown 60X.
4. Stokes is a fictional storyteller and a documentary filmmaker
The nature of Midget's vs mascots lends itself perfectly to stokes' range of experience. While stokes has developed and directed narrative spots and entertainment pieces, he's worked equally well in the documentary form. His experience with documentary brings a sense of reality to his narrative work. With documentary Stokes enjoys the surprises he encounters while working with non actors. There performances are often so fresh and so true because they are simply being who they are. Stokes loves the spontaneity he finds when working with non actors. In every narrative film that stokes takes on, he works with actors and non actors to replicate the truth of the documentary even if the concept of the narrative is surreal. He loves juxtaposing ridiculous situations with dead-pan, truthful performances.
Some of Stokes commercial work has been a blend of fiction and non-fiction. Stokes was commissioned by Amgen to create a series of films that appear as documentaries but are really trained actors taking on the roles of real people. Watch the Trailer
Stokes can work well this both actors and non-actors alike. He knows the acting process so he can work well with actors to direct their performances and give them helpful feedback. At the same time, Stokes understands how to make non actors feel comfortable so they can deliver natural, believable performances. Sometimes he also uses a bit of trickery with the non-actors but its all in the name of a good movie.
5. Stokes is a living comedy.
A director's point of view is a derivative of the director's lifetime experiences. Stokes' life has been a series of mishaps that have forced stokes to have a sense of humor. Stokes quickly learned to laugh at himself and take life less seriously. Rather than dwell on some of his more difficult experiences, Stokes has leveraged them to entertain friends and love ones at dinner or at parties. Stokes has no problem throwing himself under the bus in order to get a laugh.
